Team Goals for the Thunder Bay Thunderbolts Swim Team

 

I. Introduction This document outlines the team goals for the Thunder Bay Thunderbolts Swim Team at a competitive sport level. Our club is committed to fostering a high-performance environment where swimmers can excel in their athletic pursuits. Through the development of comprehensive programs, we aim to support the physical, technical, and mental growth of our athletes while instilling values that translate to success in both swimming and life.

II. Our Goals

  1. Athletic Performance:
    • Develop training programs tailored to the competitive nature of swimming, focusing on enhancing swimmers' speed, power, and endurance.
    • Provide technical coaching that emphasizes stroke mechanics, starts, turns, finishes, and race strategies to maximize performance.
    • Foster a culture of discipline, commitment, and goal-oriented mindset, enabling swimmers to achieve their full athletic potential.
  2. Coach Development:
    • Invest in continuous professional development opportunities for coaches, ensuring they possess the necessary knowledge and skills to train athletes at a competitive level.
    • Encourage coaches to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in training methodologies, sports science, and athlete management strategies.
    • Establish a feedback mechanism and regular evaluations to support coaches' growth, enhance their coaching techniques, and optimize athlete performance.

2023-2024 PRE-COMPETITIVE SCHEDULES

 

Session dates:   

         Session #1 - REVISED START DATE - upon opening of the CGComplex - Wed. Oct. 18th 

 Session #2 - January 8th to March 29th (no swimming March Break - 11th to 15th)

 Session #3 - April 8th to June 21st.

A Mini-Meet will be held the final week of each session to celebrate the swimmers hard work.  Please watch for emails with the details towards the end of each session.

**Due to high demand additional classes may be added** 
**Classes may be canceled due to less than 50% registration**

Note: Swimmers are encouraged to be ready on pool deck 10 minutes prior to scheduled start of practice in order to start on time and use the allotted time effectively.

NOTE: Assessments are roughly 15-minutes in length and swimmers need their own goggles and bathing suit.  A coach will speak to the swimmer and parent at the end of the assessments with their group recommendation.
