Olympic Lightning Group for Basic Swimming Skills

This program is designed for swimmers who are new to swimming and are eager to learn the basics of the sport. The Olympic Lightning group focuses on building strong foundational swimming skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.

1. Training Focus

  • Fundamentals of Swimming: Teach the fundamentals of swimming, focusing on water safety, basic stroke techniques, and overall comfort in the water.
  • Proper Techniques: Develop proper body positioning, breath control, and introductory skills in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly.
  • Building Confidence: Help swimmers build confidence in the water while developing a love for swimming and a solid foundation for future progress.

2. Skill Development

  • Progressive Skill-Building: Emphasize skill development to help swimmers become comfortable and competent in the water.
  • Guided Instruction: Experienced coaches guide swimmers through exercises including floating, kicking, arm coordination, and introductory stroke techniques.
  • Basic Stroke Techniques: Teach the basics of each stroke while focusing on building proper technique, coordination, and comfort in the water.

3. Age and Training Frequency

  • Open to All Ages: Suitable for swimmers of all ages who are new to swimming or have minimal experience.
  • Consistent Training: Train regularly, typically one to two times a week, to build consistency and confidence in swimming abilities.

4. Season Duration and Training Periods

  • Flexible Training Periods: Two training periods throughout the season:
    • Period 1: September 30th to February 5th
    • Period 2: February 22nd to June 25th
  • Flexible Participation: Swimmers can join for one or more training periods, depending on availability and interest.
  • Structured Learning: Each period provides a focused and structured learning environment, allowing swimmers to progress at their own pace.

Joining the Olympic Lightning Group offers swimmers the chance to learn the essential skills of swimming in a supportive and encouraging environment. 6. Program Fees 2025-2026  

  • Swimming Canada Fee $17.00
  • Swim Ontario Fee $38.50
  • HST $5.00
  • Swimming Canada Processing Fee $2.00
  • Program fees:
    • 2 practices per week = $660.00 (per session)
    • 1 practice per week = $345.00 (per session)

Please note that Swim Ontario and Swimming Canada Fees are non-refundable
