FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about the BOLTS ...
The Swimmers Handbook will answer the majority of families questions, however in addition to the handbook the following FAQ’s are presented for your review. The Handbook can be reviewed here.
When Can I register?
The Thunderbolts accept registration from new athletes throughout the swimming season.
What is a Swimming Assessment?
The Thunderbolts coaching staff require all new athletes to complete a swimming assessment. The swimming assessment is designed to be very welcoming ensuring the athlete is comfortable with the process. The coaching staff will suggest the most appropriate group for the athlete based on ability, the athletes needs, age and level of commitment. An assessment can be booked by contacting info@thunderbolts.ca .
Is there a Tryout period?
The Thunderbolts offer a 2 week tryout period for all new athletes. The athlete must fill out all necessary registration forms and submit a payment (post dated 2 weeks). A swimming assessment has to be completed prior to group assignment. Please contact info@thunderbolts.ca if interested in setting up a tryout period.
Can I attend Swim Meets?
If you are registered as a precompetitive athlete, you can only compete in 1 swim meet per swim season. Competitive swimmers can compete in as many swim meets as the coaching staff permits. Swimmers can change from precompetitive to competitive, this process changes your registration with Swim Ontario and you will be charged the difference in applicable fees. Please speak to your coach to find out which swim meets are best for your athletes development.
How can I become Involved?
The Thunderbolts success is directly a result from the volunteers that dedicate their time and skills. We have volunteer positions available at all levels of commitment, ranging from organizing a small activity to hosting provincial swim meets. The Thunderbolts often offer training sessions to become a swimming official and frequently ask for participation in planning activities for the athletes. If you would like to become involved, please contact info@thunderbolts.ca
Volunteer Hours for Students!
The Thunderbolts work with students to ensure opportunities are available for earning hours towards the students school requirements. Training is provided; often students can get several hours during one of our swimming competitions . If interested, please contact info@thunderbolts.ca.
