Swimming Assessments:
WHO:The Thunderbolts Swim Club requires all athletes regardless of ability and experience to have a swim assessment.
WHAT:The swim assessment is a simple and relaxed swimming evaluation by one of the Thunderbolts Coaching Staff. The athelte will spend around 5 mins with a coach demonstrating their current ability and experience. The purpose of the assessment is to ensure the athlete is placed in the most appropriate group based on their age, experience and current ability.
WHERE:All assesments take place at the Canada Games Complex. The parents/athletes will let the front desk (of the complex) know that you are here for a swimming assesment with the Thunderbolts. The front desk staff will allow you access to the facility (for the swim assessment only) free of charge. Once the athlete has had a chance to change - the athlete and parent can meet the coach on pool deck. The Thunderbolt typically are in the middle section of the pool, near the viewing stands (close to birthday party area).
WHATS NEXT: After the swim assessment, the coach will recommend a group for your athlete. The Head Coach (Stu) or the Precompetitive Coordinator (Jen) will let you know the availabily of spots in the group you have been recommended to join. If there is room, you will be invited to join the Thunderbolts Swim Club - an online registration form will be completed (or a paper version). You will be told when an appropriate start date is and you will be a member of our club.
PAYMENT: The Thunderbolts accept the following methods of payment: Cash or Cheque at the pool. Visa and Mastercard via our website www.thunderbolts.ca (you need to be a member first).
DURATION: The majority of our programs are based on 3 - 12 week sessions. Athletes are welcome to join at any time pending there is space available and the coaching staff/club has approved the athlete. Fees will be pro-rated for athletes starting mid session. Athletes that have been in a session for more then 14 days will not get a refund for the current session. Typically parents pay the full session amount at the beginning of each session - however - payment arrangements are available.
COSTS: If it is your first time swimming with us in a given swim season (Sept to Aug) we collect a one time payment of $60 for precompetitive athletes and $120 for competititve athletes per season plus the group fees. The group fees can be found in the "Program" section of the website: CLICK HERE
